With the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care having completed its work, the work of Te Ropu Tautoko has concluded. However, efforts to responds to reports of abuse and to strengthen safeguarding practices continue.<\/p>\n

Te R\u014dp\u016b Tautoko thank all those who have contributed to the work of responding to the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care and join with the bishops and congregational leaders in hoping that the Inquiry\u2019s report and the work that flows from it will result in a better society and a safer environment for all people.<\/p>\n

The Church takes all complaints of abuse seriously. Complaints of sexual abuse against church personnel in New Zealand are referred to the Church’s\u00a0National Office for Professional Standards (NOPS)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Increased public discussion can be the catalyst for people to come forward. We encourage anyone who has been abused by a priest or religious to contact NOPS, for your story to be heard and your complaint to be investigated. Alternately you may choose to go directly to the Police, and the Church will support anyone who requires assistance to do this.<\/p>\n
